How to Be A Millionaire
TEACHER ! ! !
*
Reader beware! This book may change
the financial quality of your life. To escape retirement on welfare and starting
with nothing, Seymour Shiell describes how he was able to build equity well into
7 figures while teaching public school for three decades. Is it so strange that
one person should assume roles as both a successful real estate investor and a
public school teacher? Happily he succeeded and was rewarded with the privilege
of teaching children as well as achieving economic security.
Fate was kind to Seymour Shiell in selecting
the direction of his studies and giving him the experience and courage that
enabled him to succeed in the profession of teaching as well as his
concurrent career as a successful real estate investor.
Is it then wrong for a teacher to use our free enterprise system
while deploring the status of so many teachers whose classroom lives and ability
to teach their students are being "ground out" by the dictatorial
policies of the educational bureaucracy? On the contrary, he
believes the public wage earner and the private investor can co-exist in one
person. It is imperative that the truth be told for the good of us all.
In addition, Mr. Shiell discusses
his psychology for teaching and his real estate investments while offering
solutions to problems in American education. These
are his memoirs.
During his 30 years of service as a secondary
teacher in Los Angeles he was assigned to different neighborhoods including
disadvantaged areas where the student body consisted primarily of minority
students, typical middle-class areas of "Americana", and one of the most affluent areas in Los Angeles.
Mr. Shiell served as Chairman of the
English and Social Studies Departments and assigned classes denoted as remedial,
average and gifted. He was a frequent lecturer at UCLA, demonstrating the
teaching activities he had used with "noted" success. He was also a
supervising training teacher for students from UCLA. He was assigned to junior
high, senior high and adult education classes in his district teaching upwards
of 10,000 students.
Mr. Shiell received his A.A. from
UCLA, B.A. from U.C. Berkeley and M.S. in Educational Psychology
from USC. In addition to his academic record he passed the California State Real
Estate Examination and for 50 years was a licensed Real Estate Broker.
He and his wife,
happily retired for over 25 years, currently divide their time between
their homes in
Del Mar, Los Angeles and Palm Springs.
